Sewing For Covid-19

Would you like to use your sewing skills to make masks and gowns to help emergency personnel? Below find resources, patterns, Facebook groups and ways you can use your sewing skills to help Colorado and nationwide. I’ll also update with news on where to drop off and local businesses that are supporting this effort.

Aaron Stokes, an Infectious Control RN at Boulder Manor contacted me to see if I knew anyone who was able to sew gowns and masks for emergency personnel. , I was happy to help and knew a lot of people that would love to help too. He pointed me to the Facebook group SEW IT FOR COVID and Corrie Hopler who is running that group. There is a lot going on there. You’ll find information and updates on the FILES section.  Below are direct links to the patterns for masks and gowns that are frequently mentioned in the group.

From Corrie Holper – of Sew It For Covid

The nation is facing a critical shortage of personal protective equipment for healthcare workers related to the disruption in the supply chain in China and the increased need as COVID-19 spreads across our country. Together we can work to ensure that our frontline workers have the gear they need to stay safePatterns for gowns and masks can be found in the group files. Please note that the gown pattern needs modification to add elastic cuffs to the sleeves. Fabric should be able to be washed in high temp/high sanitizer chemical levels.

Drop off locations are available in many Colorado and Wyoming cities – please send private message to Corrie Hopler or Lisa Deulen for exact locations. These items will be distributed to local nursing homes including Fort Collins Health Care Center, Spring Creek Health Care Center, Windsor Health Care Center, Sierra Vista Health Care Center, Applewood Living Center, Berthoud Living Center, Boulder Manor, Kenton Manor, Centennial Health Care Center, and more…
